On 23rd January, Commissioner of Police Sir Mark Rowley QPM visited Harrow to show support for the borough’s new policing lead, Superintendent Zubin Writer. His visit started at Harrow College and then proceeded to the Town Centre.

Since starting in his post Superintendent Writer has introduced targeted initiatives to improve safety, including weapons sweeps, knife arches, joint police-student community patrols, weekly crime prevention stalls, and a dedicated schools officer.

Sir Mark toured Harrow Town Centre with our BID Manager Louise Baxter. She said “I was deeply frustrated by the high levels of anti-social behaviour, aggressive begging, and theft in the town centre. When Superintendent Writer took up the role, he promised to tackle these issues head-on. Honestly, I was sceptical. Many people before him had made similar promises, but never followed through, but Zubin has transformed policing here. Shop theft was greatly reduced over the Christmas period, and street beggars have almost completely disappeared”.
