We are looking for an Operations Manager to help to deliver a safer, more attractive, vibrant and exciting town centre for Harrow.
Key Responsibilities:
Street Environment
- Monitor the Harrow Town Centre street environment and report issues as appropriate to statutory authorities for resolution e.g. Cleansing, safety and highways.
- Monitor street trading and other elements of street activity taking place and report as required.
- Monitor beggars and buskers, log and report as required.
- Meet Council officers on a weekly basis to discuss presentation and management of town centre with the aim of addressing issues and improving performance.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance and take down of the Harrow Christmas lights.
- Monitor and assist the operational delivery of the town centre events programme. In particular matters relating to:
- Adherence to health & safety regulations
- Liaison with event organiser / operator
- Management of the BID’s greening programme.
- Build relationships with business and respond to BID member issues as they arise
- Driving improvement in the management of the public realm
- Identifying, leveraging, and delivering development and enhancement to public space
- Leading the delivery of sustainability projects
- Developing and maintaining resilience and preparedness plan together with a business continuity programme
- Manage the wellbeing regarding safety and security for the area and its membership
- Where required deputise for the BID Manager in managing the BID.
Business Crime Partnership
- Act as an interface between HBAC and businesses, including the organisation of training, support and regular briefings for the members.
- Administration of radio network in collaboration with the third party supplier.
- Respond to problems / issues raised by members on a day-to-day basis.
- Gather intelligence about the issues of concern to the business sector. This will include making visits to members’ businesses on a regular basis.
- Input of data and administration of the HBAC Exclusion Notice Scheme.
- Effective liaison with partner agencies including Harrow Council, Metropolitan police, National Counter Terrorism Security Office, London BIDS Against Crime, and various homeless charities
- Provide written reports in a timely manner for board reports, Ward Panel, Newsletter etc
Personal Specification and Desirable Core Competencies
- Higher Education is desirable but not essential, or equivalent experience to meet the requirements of the post.
- Effective time management and organisational skills and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong IT skills, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relations with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
- Demonstrable aptitude for detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Flexible approach to changing priorities and requirements.
- Ability to research, collate and present information.
- Have a can-do attitude.
Hours: Working hours will be varied daily between 09:00 and 17:00 working, 5 days per week. The candidate will be expected to be available for working weekends
Remuneration: Up to £40,000 per annum depending on experience
